I would like to thank you for giving us the opportunity to speak to you about ACAC and its efforts to address issues of youth development in our community.  I wish to assure you that our future is dependent upon the quality of citizens that our youth become – whether this is in the political or economic development arena.  The path to social/economic development is youth development - change has, and always will come about through the energy and vision of young people.  Our role as elders and leaders are to communicate healthy beliefs and clear standards for our youths to follow.  This consists of much more than words, it includes investments in neighborhood-based institutions that are able to bond with young people by providing them opportunities, by providing them the skills that are necessary to take advantage of opportunities, by providing them recognition for a job-well-done, and by nurturing their individual characteristics. These are the aspirations of the Archer Community Access Center.

The conceptual framework from which ACAC works is research-based and guides our approach to youth development.  ACAC is committed to continuous research and development in an effort to refine and update its programs to better serve young people.  This process has lead us to incorporate three of the most successful youth development models into a comprehensive program of service – mentoring, after-school programming, and the community-based technology center concept.

We invite you to support this effort by contributing to our building fund, which is secured by a $23,000 mortgage.  Once this obligation has been met, we are confident of continued sustainability through the help of volunteers, donations, grants, and other fundraising efforts.  Our appeal is to individuals, parents, and businesses to invest in the future of our youth. Every contribution is valued (large and small).  Please make your donations payable to ACAC and mail to the above address.  It truly “takes a village to raise a child”.

President/Program Coordinator,
Carolyn Y. Khalfani
